George Business Chamber last week launched ‘The Entrepreneur’, an intensive training and mentorship programme for local businesses with an annual turnover of up to R6m.
Speaking at the official launch at Oubaai Hotel on Thursday 6 July, chamber chairperson Dr Willie Cilliers called it a flagship programme that can put participating businesses on a fast track to success and take them to new heights. Specialists will be conducting the training and mentoring. Only 25 businesses will be selected. “The training is aimed at unlocking new opportunities for these businesses,” he said.
George is the second business chamber in the country where Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) is backing the programme. It was first presented by the Ilembe Chamber in Ballito.
The finalists in the George Business Chamber’s edition of the programme The Entrepreneur got together on Saturday 9 September for their third training workshop at the Town Lodge in George. The programme, introduced by the Ilembe Chamber in KZN and sponsored by Acsa and media sponsor George Herald, was officially launched on 6 July at Oubaai Hotel Golf & Spa.The finalists represent a broad spectrum of different industries and some travel from afar to attend the classes. Since the launch, there have been three formal training workshops covering some of the many critical elements required by business owners to run a successful business. The programme will run until 17 November. The initiative will conclude with an exhibition where each of the finalists will display their business. This will be followed by a celebratory function where the winners will be announced.
